The Lately

Goal: Read a book a month, read through the Bible in a year
Currently Reading: "Gospel: Rediscovering the Power that Made Christianity Revolutionary" by J.D. Greear, the book of Ecclesiastes

Goal: Memorize the Sermon on the Mount
Running a few weeks behind in this, but....Currently Memorizing: Matthew 6:5-6 "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you..."

Goal: Pray through the Voice of the Martyrs "Persecuted World" calendar
Also a bit behind in this, but Currently Praying for: Maldives and Mauritania

Miscellaneous Items of Interest:

-Mexico. I'm back. What a privilege to serve with Bearing Precious Seed, El Paso for another summer. My love for that ministry and the Mexican people is only rivaled by my love for House of Grace and the little Thai girls that call it home. I'm writing this in my bedroom, and when I look up on the wall across from where I'm sitting, there are photos plastered all over of little girls with brown eyes and dark hair. Just the other day, I was thinking about how blessed I am to see God working across the ocean and across the border, all in the span of a few months. More to come on both Thailand and Mexico.

-We're coming up on the last weekend in July. That means it's time to head to Bri and Dana's cabin for the weekend! One of my very favorite summer traditions - a whole weekend with just family. Skiing, tubing, watching the sunset over the lake, s'mores, bonfires,  cornhole, Wizard, good food, and the best company.

-If this is the last weekend in July, that means next weekend is the first weekend in August...and that means making the trek up to Itasca for the Bluegrass Festival. Another favorite sumer tradition. Good music, star-studded skies, plenty of volleyball, and hopefully, no rain!

-When I got home from work yesterday, the little girls were over, and they had matching outfits on. Of course, that called for photos. We went outside, ventured way back into the back field, and discovered it was full of daisies! So fun to do another flower-field shoot with them. :)
